Conceptualized in 2013 by CauseBecause, Coffee for Cause has grown from being a half-day conversations event to one that spans weeks, moves places (conference halls, bookshops, schools, institutions, offices, the virtual world), and seeks out participation by people from diverse fields (but with thoughts and experiences relevant to the domain).

Over the past seven editions, Coffee for Cause evolved into a space for eclectic conversations made interesting, insightful and purpose-driven by the individuals who brought to these their years and range of experiences and learnings.

These conversations – and consequently the larger CSR and environmental sustainability domain  had everything to gain from the participation of decision-makers from UN agencies, central and state government officials, leaders from corporate groups and foundations, representatives from non-profits and academic institutions, and social entrepreneurs.

And like any good, solid, meaningful conversation, the ones at Coffee for Cause are memorable too – not the least because they are relatable and relevant (with dollops of humour and friendly banter), unfolding in an environment that is friendly and inspiring. Many of the same people are encouraged to keep participating, so that there is a sense of continuity (and stocktaking).

What is Coffee for Cause all about?

The event brings together a cross-section of ‘responsible’ champions from various cause verticals for informal talks over coffee, to seriously discuss causes that matter. It is to know, converse with, and exchange ideas with people whose areas of work revolve around ‘causes’. This is a regular forum that enables conversations that go on, to build relationships and to give a boost to scattered efforts that are for one cause or the other.

How do participants benefit?14

As all participants are primarily changemakers, the event provides them with a platform to interact, exchange ideas, share meaningful, impacting, and replicating models, and put the spotlight on best practices from the domain. The platform also provides networking and partnership opportunities for potential funding agencies/CSR arms of companies and non-profit organisations.

Is there a participation/registration fee?20

You buy your own coffee and maybe one for us too.

The conversations primarily sustain through support from participating corporate and non-profit entities. While a few companies and non-profits support CauseBecause to host and sustain the conversations, some sponsor participants coffee, collaterals, and, of course, by participating and adding value to the conversations.

22Do all participants have to register?

Yes. It’s always a good idea to reserve your place, let us know how you will add value to the curated conversations. Hence, registration is important.

Participation by invitation only. Please write to editor@causebecause.com.
